Rickenbacker Model 59 Model Lap Steel Electric with Matching Amplifier Guitar (1938), made in Los Angeles, California, serial # E 1087, ivory textured enamel finish, stamped steel body.

About as simple as a guitar/amp combo gets, the Rickenbacker Model 59 was the company's lowest priced student steel offering before WWII. Stamped metal guitar body and amp case, no on/off switch volume only on the guitar and a built-in heavy duty cable permanently attached to the amp chassis. Just plug in and go! The guitar is of course useable (and with the early horseshoe pickup great sounding) with any amp, but we think this swingin' set is perfect Hawaiian guitar bliss on a budget!

Overall length is 29 3/4 in. (75.6 cm.), 9 1/4 in. (23.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 1/2 in. (572 mm.). Width of nut is 2 in. (51 mm.). There is some wear to the paint finish on both amp and guitar (more on the amp) but overall a nicely preserved set. Amp handle replaced, otherwise all original. Sounds great! Generally Excellent Condition.
