C. F. Martin 00-21 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1932), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 49623, natural lacquer finish, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black hard shell case.
Overall length is 38 7/16 in. (97.6 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/8 in. (48 mm.). This guitar has seen quite a bit of repair work but remains an excellent player. There are a number of old sealed cracks to the top, sides and back, some cleated, and an old light overfinish to the entire instrument. These all appear related to humidity issues over the years, the guitar shows no signs of impact trauma. The bridge is a correct style through-saddle repro, as is the maple bridgeplate. The tuners are later (1960's) Waverly strip units that neatly replace the original 1930's pieces with no alteration. This is a very solid guitar even with its many repairs and remains an excellent player with the original bar frets in fine condition, with the unique sound we expect from these exceptional 12-fret steel string instruments from this specific period at Martin. Overall Very Good + Condition.
