Linus Guitars OM Orchesrta Model Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2017), made in Brooklyn, NY, serial # 1510, French polish finish, Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.

This beautiful and very fine flat-top guitar is the work of local luthier Brian Bauhs. It is a unique creation based on the 1931 Martin OM, with a combination of modern and traditional features. The body is traditional Orchestra model style with the top braced in the 1931 period's forward-shifted X-pattern. It is built with figured Indian sides and back with a tight-grained Sitka spruce top. The 24 1/4"-scale 14-fret mahogany neck is slim with a narrow 1 5/8" nut width, fitted with a 2-way truss rod and a large diamond volute behind the headstock, a reference to Martin's traditional Style 28 ornament. The neck is faced with an ebony fretboard and headstock overlay which are hand-inlaid in a continuous vine pattern in heavily figured abalone, making for a striking effect.

Other ornament includes herringbone purfling on both the top and back, a small "teardrop" pickguard, and gold-plated openback Grover tuners. The most modern element is the upper side, which features a modern sidehole soundport; otherwise, the guitar is quite traditional including a very thin and acoustically transparent French polish shellac finish. This is an elegantly built and lovely sounding guitar with a big but refined sound; a one-of-a-kind creation.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 15 1/8 in. (38.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/4 in. (641 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

There is some very light play wear to the guitar, but it comes direct from the maker and has not been much used. This is a very nice playing guitar, a lovely and distinctive modern take on the OM design with a unique feel. Near Mint Condition.
