Gibson EH-150 Model Tube Amplifier, c. 1941, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 14301, tweed finish.

A fine sounding example of the world's first great guitar amplifier, Gibson's EH-150. This is a late-model ca. 1941 variant mounted in the larger second style cabinet with rounded upper corners. The gold/brown tweed covering has a pattern of stripes on either side of the speaker on the face only, with a black script Gibson logo in the lower center. The lower front cabinet edges have leather cornersand there is a leather luggage handle on top. The speaker aperture is covered by a black metal grill. The removable latched back reveals the control panel which is laid out (left to right) fuse mount, on/off switch, tone control (a fairly new feature at the time, with the 'normal' setting in the middle!) microphone volume, instruments volume, 1 mic and 2 instrument inputs. This was the most popular amplifier of its day, as used by Charlie Christian and a host of other 1940's greats, and is still a wonderful low-medium volume amp with a sound all its own.
 
Height is 16 in. (40.6 cm.), 17 1/2 in. (44.4 cm.) width, and 9 in. (22.9 cm.) deep. Some general wear but overall well preserved. The speaker appears to be an old replacement, made by Jensen and carrying a date code of 1957. All other major components appear original except one tube, which also appears to date to the 1950's, and a modern grounded plug. The handle is original but has been recovered in leather. There are small wear spots (and an obligatory cigarertte burn!) to the covering but overall a good example of this sought-after amplifier with plenty of life left. Generally Excellent Condition.
