C. F. Martin D-18 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1972), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 311944, natural finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original molded blue plastic hard shell case.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a nice example of a Martin D-18 from 1972, not heavily used and in excellent playing condition. The finish shows some checking with small dings, scrapes and dents, but no areas of heavy wear. The original bridge has been fitted with an older style under saddle pickup, wired to an endpin jack. This still works as intended although not state-of-the-art today. The only other alterations are a replaced pickguard (as usual due to the originals shrinking up) and a strap button added at the heel.

The frets are in excellent shape and the action is fairly low making for an excellent player. This is not one of the rarer of vintage Martins but a solid gigging instrument with a sound that has really mellowed over the decades, getting better and better as the years roll on. Includes a nice example of the famous blue molded plastic case that was a trademark of the period. Overall Excellent Condition.
