Gibson EH-150 Model Lap Steel Electric Guitar (1936), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 845-11, sunburst lacquer finish, maple body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original tweed hard shell case.

The early model EH-150 with the "Charlie Christian" style bar magnet pickup is generally considered the best sounding lap steel guitar in the Gibson company's history, as well as one of the first truly successful electric instruments. This beautiful 1936 model is all original including the original blade pickup coil with the long bar magnets underneath-by practically all reckoning the finest version of this deservedly lauded unit.

With a beautiful flame maple top bound in white celluloid and finished in a lush amber-to-brown sunburst, this is a very attractive lap guitar. The early models have tone and volume knobs on either side of the pickup and the output jack located on the bass side rim, where the audience wouldn't see it. The individual Grover Sta-tite tuning machines with metal buttons are specific to the earlier models as well.

All of these semi-hollow body maple steels have a very rich, powerful tone with plenty of definition, but this first generation bar-magnet version is the most primal and strongest sounding. This is an excellent playing and sounding steel, a historically important instrument as well as a classy-looking instrument in the best Gibson tradition!

Overall length is 31 7/8 in. (81 cm.), 8 3/4 in. (22.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 1/4 in. (565 mm.). Width of nut is 2 1/4 in. (57 mm.).

This is a beautiful example overall; all original with only some light finish wear, most noticeable on the back edges of the body and with just one long scratch to the top on the upper treble bout. All finish and hardware are original with no repairs or alterations. The pickup is very strong and this is a superb sounding excellent example of the most highly regarded version of this classic lap steel, including a clean original tweed case. Excellent Condition.
