C. F. Martin HD-28 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2006), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 11793337, natural finish, Rosewood back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.

This is Martin's "Standard" style vintage D-28, with the herringbone top trim that is so much a part of their legend. The materials are the traditional D-28 formula: the back and sides are solid Indian rosewood, the top solid Sitka spruce with a mahogany neck topped with an ebony fingerboard. The scalloped X-braced top adds a vintage punch and power to the sound. The enclosed tuners are the modern Martin style as this is not a specific era re-issue model. We find HD-28's across the decades to be consistently fine guitars and this 17-year-old example is no exception, a fine choice in a traditionally styled modern Martin Dreadnought.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 5/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This HD-28 has been played over the last decade or so and shows some light wear overall, but it also has some tone played into it! There are small dings, scratches and scuffs overall, with pick scuffing to the pickguard itself but few marks on the guitar top. There is a tight grain split repair off the treble side of the fingerboard to the soundhole edge; no other repairs are evident. The original frets have only minimal wear, the neck angle is good and this is a fine player with a still-developing sound. It is housed in the original Martin HSC and a separately wired Dean Markey Promag Plus pickup is included. Excellent - Condition.
