C. F. Martin 000-28 Custom Shop Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 2681169, natural lacquer finish, Indian rosewood back and sides, Adirondack spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.

This guitar is the "standard" model Martin Custom Shop 000-28, with generally vintage features but not the more specific "Authentic" construction that pushes the price up a few grand! It is built to the mid-1930s 14 fret 000-28 spec, with an Adirondack spruce top with 5/16" scalloped X-bracing, also made of Adirondack spruce. The back and sides are straight grained East Indian rosewood. The top is trimmed with Martin's "antique white binding with bold herringbone" inlay along the edge, with a tortoise pattern pickguard and ebony belly bridge set up with a drop-in bone saddle.

The 14 fret neck is mahogany with Martin's "Modified Low Oval, High Performance Taper" profile, topped with an unbound ebony fingerboard with slotted diamond abalone inlay and a bone nut. The headstock is Martin's traditional square taper shape capped with East Indian rosewood and featuring the decorative diamond volute on the back that is a Style 28 trademark.

The instrument features a gloss lacquer body finish with Aging Toner on the top and a satin neck finish. A K&K contact pickup has been added under the bridge plate for live use. This is a practically new instrument with a big warm sound that will develop further after some actual play time.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 15 1/4 in. (38.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a VERY clean guitar showing few signs of use, just some light handling marks. There is a K&K contact pickup added under the bridge plate, wired to an endpin jack for stage use and a strap button added to the heel. Other than that the guitar is pretty much as it left Nazareth a couple of years ago. It plays very well with a rich sound that has just started to develop. The guitar resides in the original HSC with a passel of paperwork including the Martin Custom Shop booklet with the guitar's specs and instructions for the K&K. Overall Excellent + Condition.
