Fender American Vintage 1957 Reissue Stratocaster AVRI Model 6 string electric Guitar (1993), made in Corona, CA, serial # V064828, two tone sunburst lacquer finish, ash body, maple neck, original molded black plastic hard shell case.

The American Vintage Re-Issue series have remained one of Fender's mainstays for years. Begun in 1981 as carefully made reproductions of 1950s and '60s classics, these are now known by the collector's acronym "AVRI" for "American Vintage Re Issue". The very first ones were made in the old Fullerton factory; production subsequently resumed after the CBS/Fender split in the reorganized company's Corona facility. Vintage Re-issue Stratocasters were the first models built in that new location and have continued as a flagship instrument for Fender ever since.

This one was made a bit over 10 years into the run; the neck is dated January 09 1993. In most ways a fairly close reproduction of the original 1957 Stratocaster, it features a 21-fret maple neck with a shallower, rounder backed profile than an actual '57 and vintage-size frets. The two-tone sunburst finished ash body has a non-original 3-ply white laminated pickguard, 3 original American Vintage single coil black bottom pickups, the optional 5-way selector switch and vintage-style vibrato/bridge. This is a good playing and sounding American-made Strat, played and a bit worn in and ready for more!

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This Stratocaster shows some general wear and a few hardware changes typical of a working guitar. The body finish has some deep scrapes to the wood along the edges in several places, with random dings and dents and some shallow scratching to the back. The neck finish is cleaner with only fairly light scuffs and dings, and some "strum away" finish loss to the body end of the fingerboard. There are a couple of small flakes from the headstock decal.

The hardware is largely original; the pickguard has been changed to a '60s style white 3-layer with a few additional holes underneath, not visible unless the guitar is dismantled. The pickups and pots appear original; there is one spliced hot lead to the jack and the guitar set up with a 5-way switch which was included as an option when new. The body has a post-factory shallow truss rod channel cut under the pickguard; this allows the rod to be adjusted with the neck in place and is also not visible when the guitar is assembled.

The vibrato is set up with 3 trem springs; The trem arm is a correct repro and the back cover is missing. The metal parts have some scuffing and wear, as usual mostly to the steel bridge saddles. The original frets show surprisingly little wear and this is a good feeling and sounding Strat, if not an exact repro of its 1957 ancestor still a fine gigger with the classic glassy-but-singing maple neck Strat sound. Overall Excellent Condition.
