Ibanez Tube Screamer Overdrive Pro TS-808 Model Overdrive Pedal Effect (1981), made in Japan, serial # 158115, green enamel finish, aluminum.

The Tube Screamer from Ibanez is without a doubt not only one of the most influential pedals ever made, but fully a well from which countless pedals have sprung. It all began with the TS-808. Engineer Susumu Tamura developed the original TS808 in 1979 and it wasn't long before the powerful, versatile, yet still affordable pedal became a household name for guitarists looking to get a rich, tube-saturated sound. Handwired by Maxon at the time, the TS-808 features a simple three-knob interfact and small aluminum enclosure, but the magic really centers around the JRC4558 chip and unique op-amp circuit. The TS-808 was eventually replaced by the TS-9 a bit into 1981, and this roughly 2 year window of TS-808 production surely contributes to its mystique and holy grail status. This particular TS-808, with a higher serial number lacking the "R" on the painted on Ibanez logo, places it in the latter half of this little window.

Length is 5 in. (12.7 cm.), 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm.) width, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) high.

This example is in remarkably clean condition, almost resembling a fresh-out-the-box new Tube Screamer, all original inside and out. The electronics are completely untampered with, seemingly down to the battery snap, and all works as it should. This pedal coms with a slightly worn, but overall in great shape original box. Unfortunately, the "$39.00" price sticker in the front lip of the box is a few decades out of date. Excellent + Condition.
