Fender American Vintage 1957 Reissue Stratocaster AVRI Model 6 string electric Guitar (1987), made in Corona, CA, serial # V025195, Surf Green lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck, original tweed hard shell case.
The American Vintage Re-Issue series have remained one of Fender's mainstays for years. Begun in 1981 as carefully made reproductions of 1950s and '60s classics, these are now known by the collector's acronym "AVRI" for "American Vintage Re Issue". The very first ones were made in the old Fullerton factory; production subsequently resumed after the CBS/Fender split in the reorganized company's Corona facility. Vintage Re-issue Stratocasters were the first models built in that new location and have continued as a flagship instrument for Fender ever since.
This one was made about 5-6 years into the run; the neck is dated January 05 1987. In most ways a fairly close reproduction of the original 1957 Stratocaster, it features a 21-fret maple neck with a shallower, rounder backed profile than an actual '57 and vintage-size frets. The alder body has a Surf Green nitrocellulose lacquer finish and a white laminated pickguard, 3 original American Vintage single coil black bottom pickups, the original 3-way selector switch and vintage-style vibrato/bridge. This is a fine playing and sounding American-made Strat in a truly striking color looking like it is still waiting to be seriously played.
Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.)., 7.83 lbs.
This now 35+ year old guitar shows only minor wear and remains all original. There are some dings and scuffs into but not through the finish on the body and belt buckle marks on the back. The neck is quite clean with only some very minor fret wear. This guitar is complete in the original case but no paperwork or spares are included. Overall a nice example that plays and sounds exactly as it should. Overall Excellent - Condition.
