C. F. Martin 1-T IZ Israel Kamakawiwo'ole Commemorative Edition #368 Model Tenor Ukulele (2015), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 1887611, natural satin lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, black rigid foam case.

This beautiful modern Martin tenor ukulele was designed as a tribute to Hawaiian artist Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ("Iz") who became world famous for his beautiful high tenor singing as well as his ukulele playing. "Iz" was one of the most celebrated musicians to come out of Hawaii over the last half-century. Despite his untimely death in 1997, his amazingly fluid voice and lilting music have lived on.

This Martin 1T IZ Tenor Uke was crafted in 2015 in his honor and features beautiful genuine quilted mahogany construction, an East Indian rosewood headplate adorned with "IZ" inlaid in Hawaiian koa and a hibiscus flower inlaid in pink awabi pearl. There are two interior Labels; one signed by his widow with a limited edition number (#368) and a second with a photo of IZ playing. The tuners are "Pegheds" Black Planetary geared machines that retain the appearance of traditional violin-style tuners, a lovely touch. This is a very fine tenor uke and a fitting tribute to its namesake, who continues to inspire interest in the Hawaiian style of singing and ukulele playing even decades after his death.

Overall length is 26 1/2 in. (67.3 cm.), 9 in. (22.9 cm.) width, and 3 in. (7.6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 17 1/8 in. (435 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.).

This 10-year old uke appears hardly used, with only the most minor handling marks. It is an excellent player with a sweet, rich sound complete in the original hard foam case. Excellent + Condition.
