Gibson Les Paul '59 Standard Custom Shop Murphy Lab Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (2022), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 922866, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany body, flame maple top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.

This is a lovely recent Gibson Custom Shop/Murphy Lab rendition of the classic '59 Sunburst Les Paul made in 2022. This most sought after Les Paul variant from the 1950's has been re-issued since the 1970s. This 2022 Custom Shop version has a splendid feel and while recently built gets much closer in feel to the nearly 70 year old original than most previous attempts. It includes Gibson's recently introduced "Vintage Tone Circuit" which consists of "historic spec wiring" including unpotted '59 Custombuckers, handmade paper-in-oil capacitors and vintage taper audio pots.

The guitar is "Heavy Aged" and reliced per its Murphy Lab COA, but appears to have seen very little actual play time. At 8.77 Lbs. it is not the lightest for one of these we have had, but well in line with many '50s originals. It comes complete in the original deluxe re-issue brown case (with purposely corroded latches) with a full passel of case candy and the Murphy Lab COA included.

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.)., 8.77 lbs.

This guitar appears little used over the last few years, lightly played at best. The "Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aging" consists of fine checking overall and fairly heavy simulated wear, including areas down to the wood on the back of the body and neck and chips, dings and edgewear. The guitar really looks like it's been rode hard for 65+ years, but of course that's the idea. The frets show virtually no wear and the guitar performs exactly as it should, a very fine Les Paul by any standard complete in the original case with the Custom Shop paperwork and Murphy Lab COA in the pocket. Overall Excellent + Condition.
