Digitech Digiverb Owned and Used by Tom Verlaine Model Reverb Effect, c. 2000, China.
Digitech is the spawn of pioneering pedal company DOD. In the 1980's, the advent of digital DSP technology opened up a world of infinite possibilities for pedal developers, especially in regards to increasingly in-demand effects like reverb and delay which range from difficult to costly to outright impossible to produce on fully analog circuits. DOD, which had already existed for about a decade, broke into the market with series of Digitech branded pedals and rack-mounted equipment that would come to define the sound of 1980's production until the current day.
The Digiverb is part of their X-Series, an affordable line of bread and butter effects pedals that were common fixtures at guitar stores globally (this one, at least, bears markings of its sale in Japan). It features 7 different Reverb modes from fairly simple hall Reverbs to some lusher, more complex settings with just three knobs (level, a single knob EQ, and decay time) to tailor the 'verb. The pedal also advertises a cabinet emulation option, no doubt to be used alongside the spring emulation setting to replicate the classic sound of a tube amp reverb circuit.
Height is 5 in. (12.7 cm.), 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) width, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at deepest point
This pedal is in fully functional condition with minimal traces of cosmetic wear from stage and studio use by Mr. Verlaine. The stickers on the back, all four knobs, and the battery compartment are all firmly in tact. It can operate off a either a 9V wall wart power supply or a 9V battery. This pedal resides cozily inside its original box complete with instructions and documents from Digitech both in English and Japanese; also on the exterior of the box and on the back of the pedal are some Japanese price tags from whence it was originally purchased by Tom or otherwise. It also comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Patrick Derivaz, Verlaine's close friend and long time musical collaborator from whom we received the pedal. Excellent + Condition.
