Harmony H-44 Stratotone, previously owned by Tracy Bonham Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1957), made in Chicago, copper lacquer finish, hardwood body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, Anvil Road case.

Overall length is 36 3/8 in. (92.4 cm.), 10 1/2 in. (26.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

This is a fairly late example of Harmony's primal slab-O-wood solid body, the H-44 Stratotone, well-used but in better condition than many. The DeArmond pickup is dated to the summer of 1957 with pot dates of 137 722; this model was discontinued by 1958. The guitar has its share of general finish wear overall, with dings, chips, and scrapes to the metallic copper lacquer, and a few spots chipped away on the edges. Still this example has less finish wear than many, and the copper lacquer is not "greening" significantly on the back of the neck. There are some visible scratches on the top by the upper bout and some odd small stained spots on the back, but overall this is still a sharp-looking guitar.

This guitar remains original except for some minor modifications. The knobs are period but not the exact original style and a plastic Les-Paul style jackplate has been added -- the fragile original has nearly always broken. Most of the electronics are original but a couple of wires have been replaced. The bridge is a nicely done repro with a wider compensated arched saddle to aid in playability and intonation. Two heavy-duty strap buttons have been added. The neck is very chunky and has remained much straighter than on most of these guitars. The original frets have only some light wear and this guitar plays quite well. It is also a great-sounding example of this super cool, funky, and now much sought-after early solid body electric. This guitar comes in an old-style classic Anvil road case and up until recently was a touring guitar for Tracy Bonham. Overall Very Good + Condition.
