Fender Champ Model Tube Amplifier (1954), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 7487, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 11 in. (27.9 cm.), 12 in. (30.5 cm.) width, and 6 3/4 in. (17.1 cm.) deep.

The classic "home" amp in any configuration, the Fender Champ is as simple as it gets but still one of the all-time great amplifier designs. This 1954 model is late in the run of the original version of the model featuring a back-mounted control panel with two inputs and a single volume knob. The Tube Chart code of DF dates assembly to June 1954 and the original speaker is marked 395 403 (3rd week of '54). Internally there has been a typical cap job, with a grounded three prong power cable added. The fuse holder cap is more recent.

Other than this typical maintenance this Champ remains nicely original and overall is a relatively clean example. The tweed covering shows only light/moderate wear overall, mostly to the lower corners. Even the original somewhat fragile leather handle is still intact. The rear-mounted control plate has some ossified gunk along the lower edge where a piece of tape (or something) was stuck long ago, but the stenciled graphics on the plate are otherwise nice and crisp with minimal loss. This amp is relatively quiet but has a great sound. While not a loud as the larger 1955 and later "big box" Champs it is sweet at low volume and a screamer when pushed. Excellent Condition.
