Gibson ES-330T Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1963), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 105769, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown alligator chipboard case.

This is a superb original example of a sunburst ES-330T, the relatively short-lived single pickup version of the popular ES-330TD. This guitar is from the final production year for this variation and has several then-newer features including bound small-block rosewood fingerboard and nickel P-90 pickup cover. The double cutaway single-bound body is fully hollow with a deep rich sunburst on the top and dark finish on the back, sides, and neck. The neck joins the body at the 16th fret, a trademark of the ES-330.

The distinctive feature of the original ES-330T (as opposed to "TD") is the single P-90 pickup mounted in the center of the body, controlled with 1960s-style amber plastic-capped tone and volume knobs. This pickup placement gives a smooth midrangey tone, obviously not as versatile as the twin pickup ES-330TD but with a distinctive sound all its own. This is simply a superbly easy-handling and great-playing guitar, super lightweight and still with the relatively slim round backed neck. Only 151 of these shipped out of Kalamazoo in 1963, and there can't be too many nicer than this one left.

Overall length is 43 1/8 in. (109.5 cm.), 16 1/8 in. (41 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a very clean and original guitar, showing only some light wear. It is all original and unaltered except for newer saddles on the nickel-plated patent # Tune-O-Matic bridge. There was never even a second strap button added. The finish shows some checking but very little wear, mostly small chips to the headstock edges. The frets have been crowned down just a bit and this remains a superb-playing instrument, about as handy as they come. The original chipboard case is included, still largely intact but with a broken handle. Excellent Condition.
