Collings C10 ASS SB Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2016), made in Austin, TX, serial # 26383, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, Honduras mahogany back, sides and neck, Torrefied Adirondack spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge, original black tolex hard shell case.

The Collings C10 is the Texas company's take on the classic Gibson smaller-body flat tops of the Depression era, popular with players in many genres. The C10 features the same basic body design as Gibson's L-00 with a fairly narrow waist and small upper bout resulting in a precise, focused response. Unlike most original vintage L-00's the C-10 has a more comfortable rounded neck profile instead of a "V" shape. The guitar has other more deluxe features including a torrefied spruce top, ebony fingerboard and herringbone top trim. The maker's specs are as follows:

Top: Torrefied Adirondack Spruce; Back, Sides and neck: Honduran mahogany; Braces: Sitka spruce Pre-war scalloped X-pattern
Bridge: Ebony straight-style with 2 3/16" spacing; Scale Length: 24 7/8" Short Scale
Neck Joint: Mortise & tenon hybrid, Truss Rod: Fully adjustable; Fingerboard: Ebony with MOP dots and bone nut
Body Finish: High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer; Neck Finish: High gloss polyester resin
Tuners: Nickel Waverly (16:1 ratio)

Overall length is 39 3/8 in. (100 cm.), 14 13/16 in. (37.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a very clean guitar showing only some light signs of play. The finish has some small scuffs and handling marks and a few tiny dings. There is a strap button added at the heel, and a K&K 3-point pickup mounted under the bridge plate with an endpin jack but no pre-amp or other internal electronics. The frets show some light wear in the lower positions but not anything that affects playability. This is overall a very nice example of one of Collings' nicest designs, a sort of "Super L-00" combining the best ideas of the 1930s and the 21st century. It sounds lovely, with plenty of volume and a strong punchy sound that is just starting to mellow in. The original Collings-branded TKL HSC is included. Excellent + Condition.
