Gibson A-40N Model Carved Top Mandolin (1952), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # Z-1715-44, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, original brown chipboard case.

Overall length is 26 1/4 in. (66.7 cm.), 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).

This A-40N is in super clean original condition complete with the original soft case and even the hangtag. The original Kluson Deluxe tuners are back on with new buttons; someone had fitted a set of Japanese stripe in the '70s when the buttons deteriorated, but we've put it all back the way it was in 1952! The original pickguard and hardware are included, but as celluloid decay has begun to set in, we've removed it from the instrument. A very nice-playing and sounding mandolin; a relative bargain in a vintage f-hole Gibson and as nice an example as we've ever seen. Excellent + Condition.
