Fender Precision Bass Antigua Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1979), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S883321, Antigua shaded polyester finish, alder or ash body, maple neck, original molded black plastic hard shell case.

This is a very clean example of a rather rare Precision Bass variation, the Antigua model from 1979. This specialized shaded finish option was originally only offered on Coronados in the late '60s but was revived for Fender solidbody models for a short time in the late 1970's. The creamy polyester hue with greenish edges was very eye-catching, if not to everyone's taste! It also does not stand up particularly well in actual use, the painted pickguard being the most prone to wear. This nicely preserved example of an Antigua P-bass has pots dated to the 34th week of 1979 so was likely assembled later that year. It also happens to be a good playing and sounding instrument as late '70s Precisions go. This very clean bass is an interesting find for the Fender collector and/or P-Bass aficionado with a taste for the unusual!

Overall length is 45 7/8 in. (116.5 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

Overall this 40+ year old bass is in very fine condition, showing just a few tiny dings and dents, most notable small areas of finish flaked off the pickguard, which is actually just painted plastic! The neck finish, frets and fingerboard show virtually no wear. It is all original except the chrome covers are perfect reproductions, and this bass looks much cooler with them on! Includes the original molded plastic Fender-branded case that was a new item at the time. Overall Excellent + Condition.
