Gibson ES-335 DOT Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1982), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 80622573, black lacquer finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, brown hard shell case.

Overall length is 41 3/8 in. (105.1 cm.), 15 15/16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This very early example of a ES-335 Dot is now 42 years old; it appears lightly played remaining all original and well-cared for showing light wear overall. The deep ebony finish shows mostly minor scuffs, dings and dents, with a collection of small dinks on the lower top near the endpin. There is light wear to the edges of the F-holes and one small laminate check to the top. The pickguard has some light scuffing and the nickel plating has some minor corrosion on the tuners, bridge and pickup covers that actually make the guitar look older. The original frets show some light wear in the first position.

The ES-335 DOT model is one of Gibson's best regarded 1980s instruments. Introduced in 1981 it is a really superb re-issue of the original 1958-9 ES-335 with a few more modern touches, most notably the Nashville tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners many of the originals had added in the 70s). The Tim Shaw pickups (date coded neck: 329 182 and bridge: 330 382) have now become sought after in their own right as one of Gibson's best post-1950s PAF Humbuckers.

This Ebony 335 has a more badass look than most in the solid black livery. It has a great feeling chunky neck and plays and sounds beautifully for just about any style. The case is a modern Gibson re-issue brown 1950s style. Overall Excellent - Condition.
