Gold Tone GM-Custom Model Arch Top Mandolin (2014), made in China, serial # 21501161, brown stain finish, original black hard shell case.

This is a very unusual and likely one-of a kind instrument, a Gold Tone GM-6 guitar/mandolin custom ordered in 8-string mandolin configuration. What this makes for is an electrified acoustic mandolin with an exceptionally wide guitar-like 1 11/16 fingerboard at the nut, still strung and tuned in traditional mandolin fashion. The feel is odd at first, but perfectly functional...if you've ever grumbled about those skinny mandolin necks, this is an instrument for you!

Overall length is 26 7/16 in. (67.1 cm.), 10 7/16 in. (26.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 3/4 in. (349 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

Shows only minor play wear since new, complete with the original HSC. The marks of factory conversion from six to eight-string format are visible on the headstock. Plays and sounds fine, with an eccentric but perfectly serviceable feel due to the unusually wide and chunky neck. It would also be quite suitable for heavier-strung alternative tunings. Excellent Condition.
