Fender TL 69-75 Paisley Telecaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1987), made in Japan, pink paisley metallic paper with overcoat of clear acrylic finish, hardwood body, maple neck, black gig bag case.

Overall length is 38 5/8 in. (98.1 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This is a fairly early Fender Japan re-issue of the infamous 1969 paisley Telecaster, built less than 20 years after the original. It has a hand dated neck marked 12-11-87 on the heel. The neck is made from lovely figured maple with a profile a bit flatter than the original '69 style but very comfortable. The paisley finish is very accurately re created but does not show the heavy checking and peeling common to the originals today.

The original hardware is gold plated, something we have not seen before on this model that makes for a very flashy look. It appears to be factory plating, which may indicate a special run or custom order in 1987. There is wear to the gold and small dings, dents and chips to the finish overall but no heavy wear.

This guitar must have been somebody's gigging instrument and has received a number of player upgrades, probably when fairly new. It has a replaced bridgeplate with compensated brass saddles that has had the forward sections of the raised lip ground off, a vintage Tele modification common among hotshot players decades ago. The original gold-plated bridge with the serial number stamping is unfortunately long gone.

The guitar has a set of black bobbin, cloth wired pickups that are unmarked but definitely several steps above what Fender Japan was fitting in the 1980's with a similarly upgraded US-made switch and the better grade Japanese pots. The original frets have been crowned down a bit but still have plenty of life left. This is a really cool early Fender Japan Tele that looks and feels much more line the original American instrument than most that have followed, regardless of origin. Overall Excellent - Condition.
