Fender Champ 5F1 Model Tube Amplifier (1960), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 13479, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 11 3/4 in. (29.8 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) width, and 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) deep.

This is a generally well preserved example of a later tweed Fender Champ 5F1 model, showing some general wear but looking not too heavily used. It has a tube-chart ink-stamp "JC" indicating it was assembled in March of 1960. The serial number is C13479, indicating Fender had so far built around thirteen thousand examples of this classic model in just five years! This 5F1 features the larger cabinet and 8" speaker, an upgrade from earlier models. As with any tweed Champ, it features just a "chicken head" volume knob and a single-ended 6V6-driven power section, yielding about 5 watts of output power.

Externally, there's some typical wear to the tweed fabric covering, including some edge wear and minor scuffing overall. The faceplate is mirror-clean, and all the stenciled lettering is intact. The grille cloth is in great shape, though the baffle shows what likely is a solidly repaired crack. The handle looks to be an older high-quality replacement.

Electrically, the amp is nicely original, except for the speaker, which is our go-to replacement; the Weber CV8 AlNiCo, which many would agree is a sonic improvement over the originally rather low-cost Oxford and Permaflux stock speakers. Both the power and output transformer are the original Schumachers, reading 606-007 and 606-009, dating them to the 7th and 9th week of 1960, respectively. The amp has received routine maintenance, including standard replacement of electrolytic caps, as well as a grounded 3-prong power cord and cleaning of all sockets, pots and jacks as well as biased to spec.

Overall a clean and fantastic sounding example of one of the great tweed classics, always a shop favorite here. Overall Excellent - Condition.
