Ampeg B-15N Portaflex, * LOCAL PICKUP ONLY Model Tube Bass Amplifier (1966), made in Linden NJ, serial # 020613, blue checked Tolex finish.

Height is 29 in. (73.7 cm.), 21 in. (53.3 cm.) width, and 13 3/4 in. (34.9 cm.) deep.

Overall this is a nicely preserved example of the all-time classic recording bass amp, Ampeg's B-15N. From its inception until today, this model has been the preferred in-house bass amplifier for the great majority of professional studios. We see a decent number of period B-15s, but most have seen decades of use and often show heavier wear and/or modifications.

This one is nicely preserved and remains mostly original. The serial number stamped into the chassis rear is 020613, dating the amp to 1966. There is some light wear to the signature blue check Tolex with some minor tears on corners and edges, most notably on the bottom, on the original trolley. The chrome-plated chassis and faceplate is fairly clean, with some mild scratching and wear around the controls. The original Ampeg logo from the upper front of the cabinet was unfortunately long gone, but a faithful reproduction has been installed.

Electrically, the amp is all original save for the speaker, which is a high quality period Pioneer P382A replacement from the mid-to-late 60's. This is a sturdier piece than most of the stock speakers Ampeg used at the time. The amp is otherwise original, including transformers and all major components. It has received our routine maintenance including replacement of all electrolytic capacitors, cleaning of all jacks, sockets and pots, a grounded 3-prong power cord installed, and biased to spec.

Overall this amp is in nice shape overall and sounds truly fabulous. The speaker packs a nice even punch, with no boominess or rattles, even at higher volumes. This is a true classic amp and perennial studio staple. Overall Very Good + Condition.
