Gibson GA-7 Les Paul TV Model Model Tube Amplifier (1955), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, textured tolex finish.
Height is 13 in. (33 cm.), 15 1/2 in. (39.4 cm.) width, and 7 in. (17.8 cm.) in depth at deepest point.
This is a phenomenally well preserved example of perhaps one of the rarest Gibson amps, with only 244 shipped in 1955 and only 469 total ever made! Les Paul TV model features a simple single-knob form, much like the Fender Champ and the GA-5 Skylark, which the GA-7's circuit is nearly identical to. The GA-7 model, however, features a larger 10" speaker and puts out around 4-5 watts. The control panel features two instrument inputs, a single volume control and a power switch.
This particular amp dates to 1955 and is in excellent condition overall, with hardly any notable wear to the rather fragile "poodle" or "shag rug" fabric covering. The control panel is clean with no notable wear and virtually all the stenciled lettering intact. The original white leather handle is present as well, with a couple cracks on one side, but with plenty of life and use still left in it.
Electrically, the amp is nicely original. The 10" Rola AlNiCo speaker is original to the amp and marked 285 450, dating it to the 50th week of 1954. The speaker retains the original cone as well, and sounds great. Both the power and output transformers appear original to the amp. The amp has received our typical maintenance and servicing, including replacement of all electrolytic capacitors, all sockets, pots and jacks cleaned, a three-prong grounded power cord installed and biased to spec.
A great sounding and rare amp in excellent shape that would make for a perfect recording or practice amp, and even loud enough for smaller coffeehouse gigs as well, where it will really rip if turned up -- especially if you have a Les Paul TV model guitar to plug into it! Excellent + Condition.
