Fender Musicmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1978), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S805212, white polyester finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, hard shell case.

This is a nice playing example of Fender's perennial student model the Musicmaster, still in production late in the 1970's. This model was redesigned after 1975 into a starker black & white thick-skin machine, but still an excellent student-grade guitar. The serial number decal on the headstock dates this guitar to 1978, as does the pickup stamp and the visible pot code indicating the 18th week of that year. This year the Musicmaster adopted the pickguard silhouette of the Bronco, probably so only one pattern needed to be made for the two declining student-priced models.

This features a 24" neck making for a more player-friendly instrument than the shorter scale 22 1/2" used on many earlier models. The white poly finish is lightly worn but still vibrant and the guitar is completely original 45 years along. By this point foreign-made guitars had captured much of the lower priced market and these student-grade Fenders were no longer selling in the huge quantities of the 1960s. Now decades along these simpler vintage Fenders have been gaining appreciation as great-playing, handy guitars and even this late 1970s version is no exception.

Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.)., 6.9 lbs.

This guitar has some light general wear to the body finish but no notable damage, repair or alteration. The white poly body finish has some scuffing, dings and dents and a few chips to the wood but no major wear, the clear neck finish is very clean. All hardware is original and complete with some minor scuffing and general wear. The original frets and fingerboard have only very light wear and this is a fine playing guitar, not the most versatile of Fenders but a very pleasant instrument to play. Overall Excellent Condition.
