Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1977), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S754076, black polyester finish, alder body, maple neck, black hard shell case.

This is a nice example of a later-'70s Fender Precision, with the black finished body and black pickguard look popular at the time. The decal serial number dates this bass to 1977 or '78; the matching sticker is under the pickguard. The heel on the one-piece maple neck has a small more obscure late '70s green stamp and typical inspection marks; the pots are dated to the 51st week of 1976. The features are typical for this year with the plastic finger rest located above the strings, the poly-finished maple neck with a slim 1 5/8" nut has the large black Fender logo decal. This basic black bass plays and sounds great; it remains an excellent gigging and recording bass and more proof that, even in the depths of the CBS-Fender era, the Precision Bass was a design that was almost foolproof!

Overall length is 46 in. (116.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.)., 9.74 lbs.

This is a nice all-original bass, played but not abused. All finish and hardware remain original and complete. There is some checking to the body with small dings, dents and scuffs but overall the finish is in very good shape. The sides of the fingerboard have some wear, but otherwise the neck finish is quite clean. There is a decent amount of scuffing to the pickguard and there is a small crack to the pickguard in the typical spot behind the jack.

The original large frets have been crowned down a bit and show some light wear but still play well. The hardware has some light wear and corrosion, mostly to the screws. This '77 Punk-era all-black Precision is a bit of a 4-string badass; bright and super punchy even with flatwound strings. It lives in a more recent molded HSC. Excellent Condition.
