Series 10 Professional Ampeg style Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar, c. 1990, made in Korea, serial # 103861, sunburst finish, black tolex hard shell case.

This "Series 10 Professional" bass is a Korean-made instrument with some unique styling based on the iconic if somewhat obscure 1960s Ampeg "Scroll basses". Series 10 brand instruments were produced in the 1980s and '90s for St Louis Music, who not coincidentally also owned Ampeg at the time, so no trademark lawsuits were threatened. This bass uses the Ampeg style body with F-holes cut through mated to a long-scale neck without the trademark scroll; the headstock is more similar to the contemporary Korean-made Danelectros. The pickup is a Jazz bass style unit mounted in the middle of the body, the hardware is decent quality of the period. This is a good-playing, solid instrument with a distinctive look, for sure, at less than 1/10 the price of a genuine Ampeg original.

Overall length is 44 1/4 in. (112.4 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This 30+ year old bass looks really not much used; it was previously owned by a diehard Ampeg collector who likely just bought it for the novelty value! There are some minor dinks, scuffs and handling marks, that's about it. The bass is a decently made instrument (the quality level is similar to the Danelectro re-issues that came out of Korea around this time); it plays well and is a decent budget knock-around bass with that flash of unique Ampeg styling. It lives in a period HSC. Overall Excellent + Condition.
