Gibson J-45 Koa Custom Shop Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022)
Gibson J-45 Koa Custom Shop Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022), made in Bozeman, Montana, serial # 22982079, natural lacquer finish, koa back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
This is a 2022 custom shop limited edition Gibson J-45 koa; only 50 of these were originally made and so well received that a second non-custom shop edition was recently released. The J-45 is one of Gibson's long-time favorite guitars; this special up-market Custom Shop model takes the "working man's Jumbo" in a much fancier new direction with spectacular figured koa back and sides and some subtle but lovely green abalone inlay. The top is solid Engleman spruce with hand-scalloped X bracing, multi-ply binding, a thin abalone soundhole ring, Gibson's traditional "upward" rosewood belly bridge and the traditional small tortoise pattern pickguard.
The slim taper profile mahogany neck has a beautifully grained 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone inlay in a snowflake pattern. The headstock has a dramatic abalone Gibson script logo and gold Grover tuners. The Guitar is equipped with an LR Baggs VTC pickup with soundhole controls for easy gigging purposed, wired to an endpin jack. This fancy J-45 may seem far removed from the traditional plainer models but retains their easy handling and player-friendly character, with a distinctive sound all its own. Some koa guitars can sound "tight" but this Gibson has a lovely even, singing tone, and looks truly lovely in the bargain.
Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 11/16 in. (11.9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar appears only very lightly used, presenting as nearly new. It has a very supple action and a lovely transparent tone that will mellow further as it matures. The guitar includes the clean original hard case and paperwork including the COA from the Gibson Custom Shop. Excellent + Condition.
