Collings DS2H-ASB Owned and played by Adam Levy Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022), made in Austin, TX, serial # 32746, natural lacquer finish, rosewood back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, green molded Calton hard shell case.
This lovely 12-fret dreadnought has recently been in the arsenal of well-known session guitarist Adam Levy and is nicely played in to full sonic bloom. Collings' DS models are built with the earlier style longer Dreadnought body martin first designed in 1916. This puts the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, with a 12-fret neck joint resulting in a different sonic character than the much more common 14-fret Dreadnought.
This DS2H-ASB features East Indian rosewood body, a spruce top with pre-war pattern scalloped X-bracing and a mahogany slot-head neck topped with an ebony fingerboard. The body finish is high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer while the
neck finish is high gloss polyester resin. The back and sides have ivoroid binding, herringbone top purfling and a "zipper" backstrip. Further ornamentation includes diamonds and squares fingerboard inlay and a more intricate 3-band rosette.
Collings claims "the DS2H delivers an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern 14-fret dreadnoughts. Whether flatpicked or played fingerstyle, these guitars have lots of headroom and the wide dynamic range invites everything from mellow accompaniment to biting leads" We'd have to agree, and this is a lovely example, looking relatively new but well played by a special artist friend of ours and sounding great.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This Collings Dreadnought is outfitted as a stage guitar with a K&K pickup added, wired to an endpin jack. The finish shows very little wear, just some light scuffing and tiny dinks in a few spots (Adam is a very careful player!). An additional higher saddle is included in case but original saddle is on the guitar. The case itself is a Custom Calton, externally sell worn from touring and provided with a newer padded zipper cover. This lovely Collings is an excellent player fit and ready for more road adventures! Excellent + Condition.
