Santa Cruz 1929/00 Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022)
Santa Cruz 1929/00 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2022), made in Santa Cruz, CA, serial # 1180, shaded mahogany finish, mahogany body and neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, original black tolex hard shell case.
This Santa Cruz 1929/00 model was completed 9/20/22. It is a custom example with added higher end cosmetic features including Style 42 pearl fingerboard inlay, sunburst finish overall, ivoroid bound top, fingerboard and peghead, "Cowboy Rope" trim around the top border and soundhole, and a small teardrop "OM" pickguard.
This smaller-body instrument is Santa Cruz company's tribute to the 12 fret designs of the late 1920s. The 14 3/8" wide body and 12-fret neck are all mahogany with an ebony fingerboard, bridge and headstock overlay. The nut has the traditional period 1 3/4" width and a 24 3/4" scale, with a period Martin-like very subtle soft "V" profile. The top bracing is scalloped Adirondack spruce, the ebony bridge is a traditional rectangular pyramid design with a maple bridgeplate. The body finish is a clear gloss buffed to a shine while the neck is matte finished.
The 1929-00 has been well reviewed as one of the nicest smaller body options available in a modern instrument. Santa Cruz themselves say: "This instrument's design pays homage to the simple and elegant instruments made for players enduring the Great Depression of 1929. Vintage inspired appointments include scalloped bracing, a period correct script style logo done tastefully in Ivoroid and beautifully executed Ebony pyramid bridge, bridge pins, tuner buttons, head-plate and fretboard". This "dressed up" version is a lovely guitar and has a lot of character, a unique modern interpretation of the 1929 period aesthetic.
Overall length is 38 3/4 in. (98.4 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
This guitar appears very little played, only a couple of years old and just starting to age in. The finish shows light handling wear and some superficial scuffing and that's about it. This 00 plays very well with a sweeter sound than many modern small body guitars. It resides in the original Santa Cruz/Ameritage HSC
Overall Excellent + Condition.
