Iris DF Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, made in Burlington, Vermont, serial # 268, sunburst top, dark mahogany back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

The Iris DF model is this Vermont company's take on the classic vintage slope shoulder Jumbo. It is named after Iris co-founder, Dale Fairbanks who has this to say about the instrument:.

"It was shortly after Adam's conception of Iris Guitar Company that I was invited to join and help with development. The first model, the OG, was soon followed by my personal favorite guitar design that we named after myself: the DF. A slope shouldered dreadnought modeled closely after depression era guitars coming out of Kalamazoo during the mid and late '30s, it offers the perfect combo of grit, funk and warmth."

The DF is built with mahogany back and sides with a Sitka spruce top over scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing. The mahogany neck is attached via a bolt-on mortise & tenon joint topped with a dot-inlaid Indian rosewood fingerboard and a bone nut. The small rectangular rosewood bridge has a bone saddle. The instrument is finished in an open pore, satin Nitrocellulose lacquer with a satin sunburst top, trimmed with a vintage-style "firestripe" pickguard. This is an exceptionally nice playing and sounding American-made guitar at this price point, a real testament to its maker's dedication to high quality yet affordable instruments.

Overall length is 40 7/8 in. (103.8 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 23/32 in. (44 mm.).

This guitar appears practically new showing only some light handling wear with very minor pick scuffing to the top. It plays and sounds excellent and is a fine example of this young company's distinctive and beautifully crafted instruments. Overall Excellent Condition.
