Godin Glissentar Fretless Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (2004), made in Canada, serial # 04172692, natural finish, maple body, cedar top, maple neck, ebony fingerboard, brown gig bag case.

The Godin Glissentar is meant to meld the sensibilities of fretless or microtonally-inclined Asian instruments such as the oud with the functional familiarity of an acoustic guitar for guitarists seeking to explore microtonal playing. Much like the oud, a bowl-backed instrument of Arabic descent, this nylon-strung guitar is set up in five 2-string courses and with the lowest E string standing alone. It boasts a 25 1/2" scale neck and smooth, dark ebony fingerboard bolted into a cedar topped thinline instrument with a similar look and set of specs to other Godin instruments. Small white markings alongside the fretless neck serve as a guide for pitch.

Also comparable to the rest of the Godin models, it features a custom preamplification circuit: an undersaddle transducer with a master volume and three-band EQ. The pickup circuit coupled with the unique chambered construction produces not only an impressively clear sound for DI recording, but also minimizes feedback making the Glissentar a hassle-free performance instrument. The pickup runs off a single 9V battery which can be easily changed from a compartment in the back of the silverleaf maple body.

No doubt it's an unusual instrument whose purpose may evade some, and yet for others: it might just do the trick.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

This Glissentar is nearly spotless with just a knick here or there, but overall seemingly untouched; even the plastic film is left on the back electronic cavity covers. The electronics as a whole, the knobs and the faders, are all in perfect working order. In the absence of frets, the fretboardside location markers are all clear and unfaded or scratched in any way, as is the unmarred ebony fingerboard. The guitar resides in its original tan Godin gig bag. Overall Excellent Condition.
