Guild F-20 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1964), made in Hoboken, NJ, sunburst top, dark stained back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, original brown soft shell case.

Early 1960's Guild flattops are fairly rare; examples this well-preserved are extremely hard to find! This is a 1964 sunburst-top F-20, the smallest body size of the company's line up. The next model up from the M-20 (famously regarded as the "Nick Drake" guitar), the F-20 is the same instrument with the addition of a spruce top to the mahogany body and neck.

This is a smooth little finger-or-flatpicking machine, with a vibrant midrangey sound. The reddish-orange sunburst finish is a catalog option, but less often seen than a natural top. This is an extremely well-built little guitar, much lighter than later Guilds and easily on par with any similar size Martin or Gibson from the same era. This guitar has survived since 1964 with no significant damage, repairs, or alterations, and spent most of its life in a closet in Louisiana, strung with nylon strings!

Sometimes we wish they were all like this. If you've been wishing for a 'new' 1960's guitar here's one still waiting to be 'played in'…

Overall length is 39 1/4 in. (99.7 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

Amazingly well-preserved, with only some tiny dings and the slightest pickwear below the guard to show this was played much at all. A folk-era time capsule, including the original case and warranty card! Excellent + Condition.
