National Dynamic Model Lap Steel Electric Guitar (1950), made in Chicago, two tone lacquer finish, hardwood body, phenolic fingerboard.
A super stylish lap steel from the colorful just-postwar era at Valco, this National Dynamic is not only striking to look at but great sounding as well. The wooden body consists of two side sections with the tone and volume control knobs mounted on black lucite plates pegged to an elongated centerpiece carrying the pickup and strings. This guitar sports a host of other flashy looking touches including a 2-tone black/white finish, a dramatic colorful geometric pattern fingerboard, tuners covered with oblong "National" stamped plates and a large metal pickup/bridge assembly. Beyond making a fantastic Deco visual statement, this National Dynamic has a singing sound to match!
Overall length is 33 in. (83.8 cm.), 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.). Width of nut is 1 15/16 in. (49 mm.). All original except repro Kluson tuners (under the original stamped covers) and the Lucite bridge cover is missing. Some paint wear and discoloration but overall very nice. Generally Excellent Condition.
