Gibson EB-2C Model Electric Bass Guitar (1964), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 177543, cherry lacquer finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

A very clean and rare version of "the" classic bass of the British Invasion era-the semi-hollow Gibson EB-2. Most extant '64-5 era examples of this instrument are in sunburst finish-this gleaming cherry bass is one of a very few we have seen with true 1964 features-all nickle hardware, no mute or handrest, and most important the big, wide chunky neck. Nearly all 1964 production went to the UK and these basses are rarely found here, especially in this condition. Do not confuse with the fairly common 1966-69 EB-2's...this bass is a breed apart and one of the coolest heavy thump machines out there!

Overall length is 44 3/4 in. (113.7 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 30 in. (762 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Light wear and checking overall, all original except one tuner shaft screw. A super example, with a good solid yellow-lined OHSC with a couple of areas of torn tolex. Overall Excellent Condition.
