Gibson J-45 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1957), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # U-557-28 (FON), sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 16 1/16 in. (40.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This old Gibson has a fair amount of wear overall but a HUGE sound-somebody played this guitar a LOT! There is very heavy pickwear into the wood below the pickguard (Willie Nelson style, but not through the top) that has been discreetly re-inforced from underneath, and several small repaired top and back cracks. The finish is heavily checked on the sides, with some old patched moisture damage to both lower bouts. The guitar a well-worn patina overall with a lot of finish wear on the neck (still feels very smooth) some noticeable divots in the "cowboy chord" position on the fingerboard. A recent refret and an excellent neck angle with plenty of saddle make this a fine player; despite the obvious heavy use it is still a very original guitar with no major changes in its long life. A very cool old Gibson with vibe to spare! Overall Very Good + Condition.
