Gibson L-00 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1936), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 756B-29, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, brown hard shell case.

The L-00 stands as one of Gibson's most popular Depression era guitars, both then and now. While this guitar was at the bottom of the flat top line in the mid-1930's it still offered a great value in sound! The top finish is a sunburst with a fairly large center, with celluloid binding around the edge, ornamented with a "firestripe" tortoise celluloid pickguard and a three-ply soundhole ring. The neck and sides are dark mahogany, as is the Big "V" profile neck with an unbound rosewood fingerboard. The headstock carries only a white paint "Gibson" logo. This model was a standard of the day, a professional grade guitar at a price affordable to blues players, Hillbilly string bands and many other itinerant musicians, as well as Gibson's intended student customers. Each one of these guitars has its own character and this one is bright and powerful.

Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/16 in. (11.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This L-00 has some average wear and tear overall but is an excellent player with a new neckset, refret and repro bridge. There is some checking overall and small chips and dings, but no major finish loss. No major cracks, the top center seam looks to have opened up slightly and been resealed but other than that this guitar appears miraculously crack free. There are four small holes in the face of the headstock, where Rhinestones were glued at some point-we're tempted to put some back in, but will leave that call up to the purchaser! A very fine old L-00, one of the better playing examples we have had recently. Excellent - Condition.
