Epiphone Zenith Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1952), made in New York, NY, serial # 64134, natural lacquer finish, maple back and sides, spruce top, laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

This is a truly lovely example of the final version of the original Epiphone Zenith, the company's good quality student grade acoustic instrument. At the time this one was made, the originally New York-based Epiphone company was fading but still capable of very fine work. This example is in the much rarer natural finish, an option only introduced in the early 1950s.

The neck is slim and comfortable, with an adjustable truss rod and unbound, dot inlaid rosewood fingerboard. Despite its modest appointments and fairly low price, this Zenith still has a fully carved top and is a fine-sounding guitar, with plenty of the volume and cut Epiphones are known for. This one was once property of a U.S. Navy band and has "USN" stamped in black on the upper back. This is a very cool carved-top guitar with some history behind it at a relatively modest price.

Overall length is 41 1/4 in. (104.8 cm.), 16 1/2 in. (41.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This is a lovely example overall, with some light wear but no notable damage or repair. The guitar remains original and unaltered except for modern openback Waverly brand tuners fitted in place of the originals. The finish shows light wear and checking overall with a couple of spots of deeper wear, the most notable just below the pickguard. The veneer on the headstock face has some deep checks around the tuners on the bass side. The frets show very little wear, the neck angle is excellent, and this is a real bargain in a genuine carved-top guitar, with a very fine sound despite its modest looks. Includes a very nice OHSC with the Epiphone "E" logo under the lid. Excellent Condition.
