Gibson SG/Les Paul Standard Custom Billy Gibbons Lil' Red Replica Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (2005), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 00055674, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
This instrument is an exacting one-off custom reproduction of one of Billy Gibbons' many unique guitars, an original 1961 SG/Les Paul known as "Lil Red". It was customized in 2015 by Rock N Roll Relics of San Francisco from a 2005 re-issue SG/Les Paul standard, with the exact layout and decorations of Gibbons' guitar exactly as it appears in his book ROCK + ROLL GEARHEAD, a copy of which is included. The work included an accurate period style cherry lacquer refinish, installation of an original 1960s side-to-side trem unit, special pickups, and custom pin-striping and relic'ing to match the wear on the original. The pickups are special Gibbons PAF winds by Seymour Duncan's Custom Shop.
Gibbons himself credits the original "Lil Red" with being the catalyst "that inspired me to grab a guitar in the first place" when he first experienced it in the hands of a local band called the Van-tels. This instrument is a one-of-a-kind loving tribute to that inspiration!
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar is quite well-reliced, so it is hard to say if it has been played much since the custom treatment was applied. It is set up with a solid MojoAxe VibroStop conversion kit making the trem unit non-functional, but the original trem parts are included as are the original 2005 Gibson pickups. It is strung with extremely light strings for the authentic Reverend Billy G experience, and has the sound if you know how to conjure it. If you've ever wanted to play "Jesus Just Left Chicago" and feel like you're going with him, or just goin' downtown lookin for some "Tush", then this could be the guitar of your dreams! Excellent Condition.
