Oahu Tonemaster Model 230K Model Tube Amplifier (1948), made in Chicago, two-tone fabric finish.

Height is 17 in. (43.2 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) width, and 9 in. (22.9 cm.) deep.

This nifty just post-WWII Oahu-branded 12-watt combo is a product of Valco of Chicago, and like most of their amps has a fabulous ride into harmonic saturation as the volume goes up. The "Tonemaster" was sold with a companion lap steel as a good student grade set for the teaching studios of the day that the Oahu Publishing Company of Cleveland supplied.

It has a single 10" field-coil speaker date coded to the 6th week of 1948, two channels each with a volume control and a single tone, all with brown chicken head knobs. The amp has had a grounded 3-prong plug added and some typical cap work but remains substantially original. The cabinet has some general wear but nothing too heavy; the back panel screws are replaced. This is a cool recording or low-volume performance amp which a wicked overdrive when cranked. Very Good + Condition.
