Roland Space Echo RE-201 Model Echo Effect (1983), made in Japan, serial # 372267, Black Tolex finish.

Height is 7 in. (17.8 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) width, and 11 1/8 in. (28.3 cm.) deep.

This is a very nice clean all-original example of this much sought after tape unit, second only to the original Echoplex as the most celebrated of its type. Roland serial numbering from this era can be tricky to pinpoint; this one indicates construction either the introductory year of 1974 or 1983, the latter of which seems more likely. This unit was the absolute industry standard for analog tape delay in the '70s and '80s, before digital took over. Many feel it has never been bettered for the palette of sounds available.

The black Tolex-covered case is a bit dirty but has only minor external wear; some metal parts show minor occlusion to the plating but nothing serious. The plastic-coated instruction sheet inside the cover has tiny shrinkage cracks at the pin mounting holes. It is entirely written in Japanese, BTW. Internally everything is nice and complete; the unit has a good cartridge, is recently serviced and running well. Ready to give you the sounds of SP-A-A-ACE, and a wide range of echo effects that have been favorites for several generations now. Excellent Condition.
