Fender Princeton 5C2 Model Tube Amplifier (1954), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 4050, tweed fabric covering finish.

Height is 12 3/8 in. (31.4 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) wide, and 7 1/4 in. (18.4 cm.) deep.

This is a worn-in but great sounding example of an early wide-panel tweed Princeton, the "upper level' of Fender's early 1950s student amps. The tube chart code is "DH" indicating assembly in August 1954, and the visible pot code is 304 308 indicating that part sat in Fender's bins for a while! Externally the amp is fairly well-worn overall with scuffs, stains, and some minor unraveling to the tweed and some corrosion on the faceplate, with minor loss to some of the graphics. The handle is a high grade repro.

Internally this amp is fully serviced, retaining the original transformers ( PT= Triad 7787, OT= Triad 0265) but with a replacement speaker. This included replaced electrolytics, removed death cap, a three-prong grounded power cord added, and bias to spec. The speaker is a Weber Alnico Classic CVA8 allowing a bit more crankage than the original, with a smoother breakup when pushed. The tube complement is: Rectifier: JAN-CHY 5Y3WGT, Power: Groove Tubes GT6V6R, V1: vintage 12AX7. While a bit funky looking, this is a great snarly sounding old Fender with a lot of vibe. Very Good + Condition.
