Silvertone Model 1220L Jumbo Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, made by Harmony (1969), made in Chicago, serial # 4482S1220, sunburst top, natural back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black gig bag case.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/8 in. (11.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

This 50+ year old Harmony-made Jumbo guitar is a superbly clean example that looks very little played since it was bought from Sears around 1969. The finish has only some small scuffs and dings, the original Waverly strip tuners look practically new. As built these Harmony/Silvertone jumbo flat tops were not considered pro-grade instruments, often plagued by high action and indifferent frets. This one is a fine playing example with a clean neck reset and some light fret work to bring it up to a more modern standard.

This is not only the cleanest but one of the nicest of these 1960s Harmony-made jumbos we have had, with a delicately blended sunburst on the solid spruce top (which actually has some bearclaw figure) and some subtle flame grain in the mahogany back. It is ladder braced with a pinless rosewood bridge making for a big, open sounding guitar. The Model 1220L was the Sears Catalog version of the Sovereign, one of Harmony's all-time best flat tops. This is as good as the store's acoustic line ever got! While it may not replace anyone's vintage D-18 this Silvertone 1220 is a cool solid wood vintage acoustic that won't break the bank. Excellent + Condition.
