Ome Plectrum Banjo (2005), made in Boulder, Colorado, serial # 4873, shaded maple finish, laminated maple rim and resonator, laminated maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
OME is one of the few modern companies that has continued to build professional grade plectrum banjos over the last few decades. This 2005 Custom Plectrum has an 11" rim with a 22 fret, 26 1/2" scale neck and is equipped with the "Sliverspun" tone ring, the company's take on the 1920s B&D Silverbell design. The "Omega" resonator is a standard Mastertone style with Ome's own distinctive flange design. The hardware is chrome plated, including Ome's proprietary adjustable tailpiece that floats on two pins at the rear and a standard armrest. The fingerboard on the laminated curly maple neck has simple but attractive shaped pearl inlay. This is a truly superb playing and sounding modern Plectrum, something that is not all that easy to find in the 21st Century!
Overall length is 38 in. (96.5 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 3 in. (7.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/2 in. (673 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/8 in. (29 mm.).
This banjo shows only very minor wear, appearing not much played for the lase decade or so. The finish has light handling wear, mostly scuffing and some light denting to the back of the resonator. The frets have some light wear in the lower positions but nothing that affects playability. One of the resonator bolts has gone missing, but everything works as intended. This is a very fine playing and sounding modern Plectrum, in a quite sturdy Deering-branded HSC. Excellent + Condition.
